What's included
Alhambra General ticket: Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba, Generalife
"Alhambra and Generalife" in a title tells you nothing about the Nasrid Palaces, the halls most people come for.
This column does. Then pick a format: a big group, a small one, your own guide, or a ticket and your phone.
Only the private tour cancels free up to 24 hours before; the others are final sale because the operator buys
named tickets for you. Children under 12 enter free on official tickets but still need one. Night tours run on night-visit evenings only.
Before you book
The ticket costs EUR 22.27. The palace slot is the hard part.
The Patronato de la Alhambra sells its own tickets online: EUR 22.27 for the General ticket in 2026, which covers the Nasrid
Palaces, the Alcazaba fortress and the Generalife. EUR 12.73 buys the Gardens ticket: Generalife and Alcazaba, no Nasrid Palaces.
Every ticket carries your name, and the palaces only let you in at the half-hour printed on it.
In spring, summer and autumn the General tickets sell out weeks ahead. That is what a tour at $36 to $78 really sells:
a palace slot when the official site has none, plus a guide and headsets on the guided ones. It is worth paying for.
Just check that "Nasrid Palaces" sits in the inclusions, because several of the most booked listings leave them out.

01
Is the Generalife included?
Yes, on the General ticket and the cheaper Gardens ticket. Only the General ticket adds the Nasrid Palaces.
02
Do I need a guide?
Not to get in. A guide earns the money in the Nasrid Palaces, where the inscriptions and the history are easy to miss.
03
Do kids pay?
Not under 12 on official tickets, but each child needs a free named ticket, booked with yours.
04
What do I bring?
The original passport or ID your ticket was booked with, comfortable shoes and water. No bags over 40 by 40 cm.

Where it is
Where the tours meet
The Alhambra ticket offices
Paseo del Generalife, 18009 Granada. Main entrance at the top of the hill, by the Generalife.
Most guides wait by the large wall map of the Alhambra in front of the ticket offices, at the eastern end of the site, so the
visit starts near the Generalife. Play Granada meets down in the city, by the Santa Ana church at the end of Plaza Nueva, and
walks up. If you have a resold ticket you can also enter at the Puerta de la Justicia, which is closer to the palaces.

Lucky to find these a few weeks before visit date (Alhambra tickets sell out quickly) - only option that also included Nasrid Palaces. Excellent skip-the-line tour with a knowledgeable guide [...]

The Nasrid Palace tickets sell out weeks or months in advance. This provider managed to source tickets for us a couple days before at a very fair price.

A lovely experience, very atmospheric. Our guide Carolina was knowledgable and enthusiastic. Highly recommend this tour, it’s quieter than during the day and you get the chance for some lovely photos

Do it! It’s fantastic. Our guide was amazing, lots of information. Walked slowly for the 3 hour tour so it felt very manageable.

Staying elsewhere
The Alhambra from Seville
No time to sleep in Granada? A long day trip still gets you the palaces, if the tickets are in the price.
Staying in Seville? Granada is close to three hours away by road, and the hard part of a day trip is the Nasrid Palaces slot. Naturanda drives you there and back with a guide, the Alhambra and Nasrid Palaces tickets in the price, and some free time in the Albaicín.
People say "the Alhambra" for the whole hill and "the Generalife" for the gardens, and ticket sellers mix the two
freely. They are different places with different tickets. Here is what you are looking at, and what you are paying for.
A palace city on the Sabika hill
The Nasrid dynasty ruled the Emirate of Granada from 1238 until 2 January 1492, when Muhammad XII handed the city to Ferdinand
and Isabella. Over those two and a half centuries they turned the red hill above the Darro into a walled town: the Alcazaba
fortress at the western tip, a medina of houses and baths, and the royal palaces. The best of those, now called the Nasrid
Palaces, come from the 14th century: the Comares Palace with the Court of the Myrtles under Yusuf I, and the Court of the Lions
under Muhammad V. Charles V added his square Renaissance palace with a round courtyard from 1527. UNESCO listed the Alhambra and
the Generalife in 1984.
The Court of the Myrtles, the heart of the Comares Palace.
The Generalife: the sultans' summer garden
Uphill to the east, outside the walls, sits the Generalife: a country estate with orchards, terraces and a small palace, built
around 1300 and redecorated by Ismail I in 1319. Its centre is the Patio de la Acequia, a courtyard about 49 metres long split by
a water channel. The arching jets over it are 19th century; the channel is Nasrid. Higher up, the Water Stairway carries water
down the handrails of a stone staircase. The cypress-walled New Gardens you walk through on the way in date from 1931 to 1951. It
is quieter than the palaces, greener, and it is on both the General and the Gardens ticket.
The Water Stairway, at the top of the Generalife.
The honest small print: the official General ticket costs EUR 22.27 and already includes the Generalife.
A tour that "includes the Generalife" gives you nothing extra. What matters is the Nasrid Palaces: the most reviewed guided tour on
Viator, at $40, leaves them out, and so does the $78 Amigo Tours listing. Read the inclusions for the words "Nasrid Palaces
admission" before you pay.
Why tours cost more than the ticket
Tickets are released online about three months ahead, and the General ones for spring and autumn weekends go first. Tour
companies hold group allocations, which is why a tour at $67 can still show dates when the official site shows none. You pay
for the slot, a licensed guide and headsets, and you give up flexibility: names are fixed and most bookings cannot be cancelled.
If the official site still has your date, buy there and add a guide only if you want the stories. If it has nothing, a tour is
the honest way in. Our sold-out guide covers the rest.
The walk up through the Alhambra woods from Plaza Nueva.
Getting up the hill and timing it
The ticket offices sit at the top end of the site, by the Generalife. Walk up the Cuesta de Gomérez from Plaza Nueva in 20 to
30 minutes, through the Puerta de las Granadas and the elm woods, or take the red C30 minibus from Plaza Isabel la Católica. Plan
the day around your palace slot. Do the Generalife first if the slot is late, the Alcazaba first if it is early, and keep 15
minutes to walk between the two ends. The visit takes about three hours. In July and August, the morning beats the afternoon.
Straight answers to what people ask most about Alhambra and Generalife tickets.
How much are Alhambra tickets in 2026?
The official Alhambra General ticket costs EUR 22.27 online (EUR 21 plus a EUR 1.27 fee) and covers the Nasrid Palaces, the Alcazaba and the Generalife. The Gardens, Generalife and Alcazaba ticket costs EUR 12.73, night visits EUR 8.48 to EUR 12.73. Children under 12 go free but need their own ticket. Guided tours on Viator start at $36. All prices are in the ticket and price guide.
Is the Generalife included in the Alhambra ticket?
Yes. The General ticket includes the Generalife, the summer palace and gardens of the Nasrid sultans on the hill above the palaces. The cheaper Gardens ticket includes it too, but without the Nasrid Palaces. Compare both in Generalife ticket or full Alhambra.
Do all Alhambra tours include the Nasrid Palaces?
No, and this is the most common booking mistake. The most reviewed tour on Viator, the Alhambra and Generalife guided tour at $40, lists the Nasrid Palaces ticket as not included. Look for "Nasrid Palaces" in what is included, not "Generalife" in the title.
What is the Nasrid Palaces time slot?
Every General ticket carries a half-hour entry time for the Nasrid Palaces. The Alhambra lets in 300 people per slot, and if you miss yours you lose the palaces, though the rest of the ticket still works. Read the time slot guide before you plan the day.
Do I need my passport to enter the Alhambra?
Bring it. Alhambra tickets are issued in your name, and staff can ask for the original ID document at any control point. Tours buy named tickets, so the name and ID you give at booking must match what you carry.
What can I do if Alhambra tickets are sold out?
Check the official site again in the days before your visit, because the Patronato releases unsold allocations. Then try a guided tour that includes the Nasrid Palaces, which buy tickets from a group quota, or a night visit. Our sold-out guide lists every option.
How long do you need at the Alhambra and Generalife?
About three hours, the Patronato says, for the full visit. The Generalife alone takes about an hour; add the Alcazaba and the walk between them and the Gardens ticket fills two hours. Allow 20 to 30 minutes more to walk up from Plaza Nueva.
Is the Alhambra night visit worth it?
Yes, as a second visit or when day tickets are gone. The Nasrid Palaces at night cost EUR 12.73 and run Friday and Saturday evenings in winter, Tuesday to Saturday in summer. You see the palaces lit and quieter, but not the Alcazaba. See the night visit guide.
Is the Alcazaba open after the 2026 earthquakes?
Yes. The earthquakes of 15 and 18 August 2026 closed the Alcazaba, but it reopened on 23 September 2026 on an adapted route, according to the Patronato. Some towers and rooms can still be off the route. Details in our post on the reopening.
Can you do the Alhambra as a day trip from Seville or Málaga?
Yes. Málaga is about 1.5 hours away by road, Seville close to three, so a Seville trip runs about 13 hours. Pick one that includes the Nasrid Palaces in the price. Compare them in the day trip guide.
Can I cancel an Alhambra tour?
Mostly not. The Alhambra issues named tickets, so almost every tour here is final sale. The private tour cancels free up to 24 hours before. Official tickets cannot be refunded either.
